A European School

We are studying our last year of Secondary Education at IES Sierra Luna, a school in the south of Spain, so obviously we are in a European school, but the title of this entry implies much more than a geographical placement.
When we say that we are in a European school its true meaning is that our school participates in several European projects (Comenius, Erasmus+) to give us students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of experiencing how life is in a foreign country, meeting foreign people our same age, with our same interests, using English as a vehicle for communication.
Last year we finished a Comenius programme with schools from Ireland, Turkey, Belgium, Germany and Lithuania, and this year we have exchanges with schools from Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Holland, Turkey, Slovenia and Austria.
Fran, a member of the Euroscola project, was able to travel to Belgium, where he had time to learn how to cook Belgian-style fries, go to the Museum of Chocolate, and of course visit Brussels, a magnificent city full of history with astonishing monuments and landmarks.
Laura and María Jesús took part in the Comenius project, this time travelling to Ireland. There they learnt traditional Irish games, visited Dublin, the capital city, and met wonderful people that they can call friends now. They had the opportunity to experience life in a foreign country, learning to appreciate different cultures, traditions, values and ways of living. It was an unforgettable experience!
